Well, here I go. My first blog!It feels very strange – writing in a vacuum, with no deadline, urgency or inspiration. Rather like addressing a room full of strangers who know nothing about me and aren’t that interested either. I wish I could come up with something really startling and impressive but seem to be out of sparkle at the moment. But I will work on it. Perhaps I’ll use this as a sort of diary – not daily, I know from experience I’m no good at that. Some days nothing looks good enough, or interesting enough, or tantalizing enough. Of course, one can always fall back on the weather – that good old British standby! Talking of which —-

R has made bread today and the house is redolent with the smell. Sadly he has lost his sense of smell – so loses out on the tantalizing aromas. I shall probably talk a bit about cooking sometimes. We are trying to think of creative ways to use tomatoes at the moment. We have bottled lots (40+), made soup, including some with only yellow tomatoes: it looks like a bowl of sunshine and will be a wonderful cheery sight in the dark days of winter.

I hope I’ll hear from someone – even ET if he’s around!

I’ve canned a ton of tomatoes, too! It was my first year for canning. I canned tomato and basil, cucumber relish with onions and peppers, and pickled beets. Fingers crossed I did it right and we won’t get sick from botulism…

I like the idea of a jar of yellow tomato sauce in the middle of winter. I’ve got yellow and red peppers coming ready right now and wil have to freeze them here soon. Hope you’ve had a lovely summer!

    Hi Ann (and everyone else)

Hard luck Ann, you caught me in your net.

Not much time to blag, blog or whatever it is, at the moment.

Stewart dropped by on Monday for a cuppa. After 30 odd years he’s losing his love of the job. Not surprising given the way they (our esteemed Government) are wielding their axe on resources for all the emergency services.

Autumn is tapping on the door now, but it’s welcome after an August of rain. I usually get out a couple times a week on my bike, trying to keep my old friend death at arms length, but the non stop rain and wind has made it tricky. Yes, still young enough to cycle a few miles.

It’s going to be a bumper year for blackberries so, might try our hand at making some jam.

Okay, that’s all for now folks, got to work.

ET go home! No tomatoes or bread for you–that is of course unless you plan to share them with Donald T.!
This is my first time on a blog as well. It seems like I should call it an email or chat. I definitely want to learn more. I’m not sure whether or not to Google it or is there a special version for bloggers–perhaps Bloogle.
Thought for the day: if I reproduced a tomato on a 3-D printer, would it be organic?
Okay, I’ve disrupted your life enough for one day.
    Good luck Ann

Strange, I just received a notification for this blog. I had forgotten I even replied–a time warp or is this crazy winter getting to me? Maybe the kids were right; I should have my internet privileges limited.
    Have a great day!
